CASTLE
GARDENS
Welcome to our lovingly tended Castle Gardens.
There are several activities here for your pleasure, where you may find
relaxation, information, amusement, or a challenging game or two.
Take a stroll through our gardens and see how many of the 5 areas you can
find without getting lost--in reverie or literally.
We invite you to submit your own material
for any of the areas in the garden. Contact our gardeners
for your comments, suggestions, or material you would like to present.
No copyrighted material, please, without the express permission of the
author/owner.
The
Poet's Corner
If you
step forward into the Rose Garden, you will find the Poet's Corner.
Have a seat in one of the comfortable lounge chairs and sip on a drink
from the Pub while you listen to one of our poets. On rainy days,
or if you would rather get out of the sun, the large, breezy gazebo is
close at hand.
If you
prefer to read and meditate on the poetry in solitude, the swing offers
a stunning view. You can see it just off to the right, under the
massive oak tree. The small stream coursing down the rocks from the
water garden above provide a soothing background, and you can see the layout
of the entire gardens from here. If the winds are just right, you
can hear the minstrels playing one of their selections from further down
the gardens.
We encourage
you to submit your own poetry by contacting the gardeners.
The
Maze
Down the
steps and past the beautiful water fountain is the entrance to the maze.
Constructed out of tall, thick, deep green hedges, we challenge you to
see how quickly you can find your way back out.
The hedges
have grown and filled in sufficiently enough now for us to be able to provide
you with several different games and activities that we think you will
find fun and challenging.
Concerts
of the Minstrels
If you
turn left at the bottom of the stairs and go down the path, you will see
where the musicians are located. A rock garden provides an amphitheater
stage like setting. Occasionally, one of the minstrels will stroll
throughout the garden, but it is here you are guaranteed to find the majority
of the group, ready to play the Highlander or other WAV or MIDI file of
your choice.
The
Herbal Garden
A right
turn at the bottom of the stairs will lead you to the Herbal Garden.
Signs posted throughout this area will provide you with tips on herbal
remedies, cosmetic uses, and herbal lore. There is also an herb based
recipe that will be changed frequently (previous recipes can be found in
the scullery if you miss one).
The
Forecaster
Beyond
the maze, in the clearing among the trees, you will find the Fortune Caster.
Step into her colorful wagon next to the pond (sorry, no swimming or fishing
allowed--the MacChat Ness Monster may be lurking beneath) and she will
read your future using her Tarot Cards. Madam Mazel is also available
to provide a personal horoscope, you can visit a couple of other fortune
telling sites, or a special visitor may put in an occasional appearance
to offer a personal on-line Tarot reading.
