Ode to Walter Mitty
She exists
Cloistering cowardice
But she wants so much more
She daydreams
Endless possibilities
But she questions her potential
She cries herself to sleep
Anguished isolation
But she's safer in her dream world
She acts
Unknown future
But she chooses to experience
Farewell, Walter
I wish you well
Longing
There was actually a time when
I couldn't imagine my life
without you.
Never taking you for granted,
but always counting on you
to be there.
You once told me this would
happen,
but I didn't want to believe
you..
Losing my best friend, my
confidant, my greatest fan
was incomprehensible and frightening.
Now, there's a hole in my heart
where you used to be.
An endless void
that will never be filled.
When you said good-bye that day
I never dreamed it would be our
last time together.
But you knew and you kept it from
me
trying to save me from the pain.
And then you were no longer there
and my world shattered into a million
pieces.
Now, my days are colder
and I struggle to get by.
And there's a hole in my heart
where you used to be.
Sometimes I even feel
it gets easier for me.
But I still long for that soul
who knew the real me.
SACRIFICES
(Written for her mom for Mother's Day)
She looked back one last time
Knowing it might well be the last
Scared, unsure, but filled with love
She left her country
She did this not for herself,
But out of love for her daughter
Wishing, hoping for a better life
For her little one.
Forsaking all she loved and knew
For the new life in her arms
Leaving the past behind
And looking boldly to the future.
You never think of yourself as brave
yet your sacrifice fills me with awe
I hope I can be as selfless as you
I love you Mom!
For Ethan
Brand new
Precious bundle
Life changer
Rapidly growing
Awe inspiring
Chubby cherub
Noise maker
Terrible temper
Adored angel
Perfect boy
Future scholar
Loved forever!
Thank you for being a part of our lives!!
