THE WATCHERS, #93201
MOUSER's Review-5stars. This is a classic
and must see show for any fan. The search for Darius' killers leads
Duncan to the watchers. This is the first appearance of Joe Dawson and
the first confrontation of James Horton. The mood, the look, and the feel
of the show were everthing a highlander fan could want. And let us not
forget that Horton is Duncan's
nemesis. Horton and his band of Evil watchers
set in motion the events of all the shows to follow. It's because of him
that we now have the watchers as we know them. Adrian does a good job as
an obsessed Duncan after his friends killers. One of the best all time
scenes in highlander is the confrontation of Duncan and Horton in the warehouse.
Now that is exactly what you expect and want out of Duncan. No sexy scenes
in the whole show for the ladies but that doesn't detract from it. I can
watch it again and again and enjoy this one. My bastard rating is
5 stars.
BASAXL's REVIEW-5stars.
The Watchers has everything but Duncan taking
his clothes off. It is a must see ep. We met Joe Dawson, discover what
the watchers are supposed to be about, and also about the hunters (see
under nazis and klu klux klan) a splinter group who think its more fun
to kill immies, than watch them. Hitler.. er uh I mean Horton is the leader
of this nasty little group, and he's got more lives than Flash Gordon.
His moto is "kill em all and let God sort em out." He's one of those hidebound
people that hates anyone or anything different, if he doesn't understand
it, he fears it, and what he fears he hates, and what he hates he kills.
No room for tolerance. The flashbacks in this remind me just how
much I miss Darius. He was such a lovely charactor. I loved
the opening scene in the bar where Duncan takes on the skin heads, and
beats the crap out of them. Oh well. Richie tried to warm them.
The look on Duncan's face when they challange him, says it all. I
love it when Duncan is deadly. (the touch of dark Dunc here...grin)
It brings home the fact that he's as dangerous as a tiger. When the
chips are down, Duncan is a man's man with nothing of the boy toy image
some people try to project upon him. The thing that sets Duncan apart
from the rest, is his compassion, mercy, integrity and an inate goodness.
Duncan is a warrior not a murderer. I hate Horton worse than any
villian so far, he's
everything Duncan is not, a murderer, small,
mean, petty, with no respect for life what so ever. I only wish I
could give him a higher bastard rating! My Bastard rating for Horton
is 5 stars.

THE DARKNESS, #93204
MOUSER's Review-5stars. The Darkness......aka
Tessa bites the bullet. Thank you lord.
Someone up there was listening to me. Tessa, sorry,
but boy was I glad to see you go. After the most remarkable stupid escape
scene I've ever seen, you shoulda been done much earlier. For God's sake,
I would have put my feet in overdrive and beat a hasty retreat out of the
neighborhood if I had gotten away. But nooooo Tessa had to stop and ask
a passing motorist for directions. Simple any way but back the way you
came from idiot. This was my
biggest gripe about Tessa. Common sense
went out the window where she was concerned. Other than that, we have a
classic on our hands. Watchers gone bad......a pornstar gone mental....Richie
getting a buzzz....and Mac being romantic. Ahhhhh and the death scene for
Tessa.......well not as moving as the last scenes......I felt so sorry
for Mac at the end. 3stars to the villian....not really a character so
much as a representation of the bad watchers. 5 stars for the ep itself
as a defining moment in Macs life..
BASAXL's REVIEW-5stars. This is an
must see ep for the fine writing and even better acting. It is also
a pivotal point in the Highlander saga. One of Horton's little hairballs
has an interesting hobby. He loves to play
like he's an immie and in the game. He takes great pride in beheading immies
with a sword. It makes him feel so superiour. Oh I almost forgot to mention....he
cheats. He kidnaps the immie's significant other, lures the frantic immie
into a trap, turns out all the lights and neatly dispatches them, because
he is wearing a see in the dark device. It worked so well until Mac came
along. I've heard a lot of comments about Duncan and the matches.
I think the trick can be pulled off, a swordsman as great as Mac is KNOWS
where his edge and point is...even in the dark. Our fencing class used
to turn out the lights and fence all the time. We also used to fence blindfolded.
We did this a lot and we weren't playing for keeps. All other senses are
heightened. Try it sometime. Mac lives by the sword, he practices all the
time, you think he hasn't tried just about everything. Another gripe
is the way Tessa was written out. I know she wanted off of the the
show, but couldn't she have been more on the ball. She was great
up till the escape. When she knocked him down with the chair, why
didn't she give us a replay of big fat broad and the snake. He should have
just cuffed her instead of making her look like a fool. The random act
of violence was a wonderful way to dispatch her tho. The last part
of this ep was writing and acting at its best. Adrian Paul shows us a master
artisan at work. I'll never forget Mac clutching Tessa's blouse as Dust
in the Wind plays in the background. It was one of the most poignant portrayals
of loss I've ever witnessed. It's eps like this that raise Highlander far
above most series being shown. The hairball gets 3 and a half star
rating for being unique.
EYE FOR AN EYE #93205
MOUSER's Review-3stars. An Eye for
an Eye..........Well this is actually a very good ep save
for one thing.....more on that later. Sheena
Easton as Annie Devlin has her own agenda in this ep. As a freedom fighter/terrorist
for the Irish, she does a very convincing job. And as she feels Richie
is responsible for her husband's death......well I can understand. She's
one of the stronger female characters they have had on the show and is
nice to see for a change. Now....for that flaw in the show and Sheena's
performance. I'm sorry....I've run the tape over and over and over....and
Sheena just does not get any better with the sword. Believe me I've tried
and tried but she is one of the worst with the blade the show has ever
had on. They should have never let her have one. The fight between her
and Richie is one of the most pathetic excuses for a sword fight I've ever
seen. The show was going just fine till they did that. It completely blew
all credulity in Annie's character. My god....she shouldn't lasted even
5 minutes against him. For that reason the show drops to a three star and
only 1star for Annie.
BASAXL's REVIEW-4 and a halfstars.
aka Annie Get Your Gun... coz your sword work just don't "cut" it.
I can understand Richie bumbling around, he's a newbie but Annie girl,
how did ye survive so long...Props! Give her back the board. The sword
fight is what
pulled this down from a five star ep....
Otherwise this is a very strong episode. Talk about problems, what
do you do when one of your long time friends shows up and she hate's the
kid you'v more or less adopted? Annie's a strong, spirited, stubborn little
lady and she won't quit till she gets you. She almost gets Richie
at the warehouse. He takes the old saying" go take a flying leap"
to heart, and does.. kudo's to the stunt man here. I wouldn't
mind watching several hours of Swords 101
as taught by Macleod either. Charlie makes the most of his role questioning
the sanity of his pardners while still doing his best to help. Does
anybody else miss Charlie as much as I do? Stan turns in a very moving
performace. Richie is basically a good kid and I've grown to like him more
and more. I'd be really upset if anything happened to him. The scene
that stood out the most for me besides swords 101 was of course the mutual
seduction scene between Mac and Annie. She literally rips the shirt
off Duncan, buttons fly as his shoulder slides free of the shirt.
Very erotic. This is Romance cover material. Fabio eat your
heart out.. why aren't the love scenes longer???? I also like the
neat little twist where Mac is the one to ask was that all it was to you?????
I'd like to see Annie come back as an ally. We need more stong women
on the show, and much much more button popping.

UNHOLY ALLIANCE PART I, #93214v
MOUSER's Review-4stars. This is one of the better eps done on Highlander. Definetly 4 stars...not quite 5....as its only the first half of a good story.Xaviar is always an excellent villan. His casual attitude to killing is the hallmark of a real nasty. No Duncan in any provocative shots....sigh. The only female in the show while appearing to be on the strong side, does just not quite seem to make the connection with Duncan. For action and adventure tho, its one of thier better shows.....my fav scene in the ep is when Duncan falls down the elevator shaft and Xaviar complains about getting his head. A fine villian he is ...its no wonder they keep bringing him back. My bastard rating for Xavier is 5stars.
BASAXL's REVIEW-5stars. Well,Duncan doesn't take his clothes off in this one,but it has everything else. Our little Fiend Horton is back and Who does he not only hear but make fiends with....dear St.Cloud, talk about strange bed fellows. St.Cloud is one of the most enjoyable bastards on the show, but he is totally outclassed when it comes to being a pure bastard like Horton, after all even St.Cloud has a couple of morals, he once said I dont sleep with virgins and I dont kill children. Horton would have slept with St.Cloud if it had meant getting Duncan..grin! I really believe he would have, anything to win! I DO miss Charlie. He was a very likable charactor, he did not tiptoe around Duncan, and he was THERE for him, Charlie was one of the best friends Duncan ever had. He proves it in this ep. Rysher bring us more like this one! Oh and we also find out, even St.Cloud won't kill on holy ground. Horton would kill Duncan on his granny's grave if he got the chance.
