(Several hours later. Siobhan puts the phone down as Methos enters the living room. She stands up, stretching and grins at him.)
Siobhan: That took longer than I thought. Terrence and Carolyn were
off on vacation. I had a
heck of a time tracking
them down.
Methos: Hmm. (Looks distracted.) Siobhan, you and I need to talk.
Siobhan: (Lifts an eyebrow.) 'Bout what?
Methos: About Duncan. (pauses) I don't think this thing is a very good idea.
Siobhan: And which thing would that be?
Methos: (Completely uncomfortable.) The thing. Downstairs. I saw you.
Siobhan: Oh, you mean the kiss.
Methos: Yes, the (chokes), what you said. I just don't think...(muttering)
Brenna, I could really
use your help.
Siobhan: (Sits on the arm of a chair, thoroughly enjoying herself.)
Oh, you're doing just fine on
your own. Keep going.
You were saying about the kiss.
Methos: I think you should stay away from Duncan.
Siobhan: What could you possibly have against him? He's your friend.
Methos: He's a Scotsman!
Siobhan: (surprised) So was Mama and you married her!
Methos: Your mother was NEVER a ScotsMAN!
Siobhan: (understanding dawning.) Ahh, so that would be the real problem. He's a man.
Methos: Angel, you wouldn't understand. You're a nun. Men,
men want things.(Narrows his
eyes.) Particularly
men like Duncan.
Siobhan: (Trying not to laugh.) Daddy, I haven't been a nun in a long
time. I write romance
novels for a living.
I have some idea what men want. (Pauses, lowers her eyes mischeif
entering them.) You know
though, I have been wanting to talk to you.
Methos: You know you can always talk to me.
Siobhan: Well, yes but (Bites her lip.) this is just...
Methos: (Eyes softening.) Tell me.
Siobhan: I've been having these, well these feelings. No, no they're
more like cravings. Like for
chocolate, only different,
stronger. (She looks away from Methos.) I get them when I look
at Duncan. (Methos pales.)
When he kissed me, I just...wanted to eat him up. I think I like
his kisses better than chocolate.
(Siobhan looks at back at Methos. He is horrified. Siobhan's eyes dance with laughter.)
Methos: You did that on purpose.
Siobhan: (grins) Of course, I couldn't resist.
Methos: Ramirez spoiled you too much as a child. That's where you get this streak from.
Siobhan: Possibly. But you know what, Da?
Methos: I'm almost afraid to ask.
Siobhan: I DO like Duncan's kisses better than chocolate. And
you know how addicted to
chocolate I am. (Methos
groans.) Could be worse.
Methos: How could it possibly be worse?
Siobhan: (eyes full of mischeif.) Could be Connor.
Methos: (horrified) You wouldn't!
Siobhan: Would!
Methos: You're going to make me old before my time. (Siobhan stares
at him for a moment, then
burst out laughing.
She starts to regain control, but starts laughing again.) I'm glad you
find
this amusing. (This sets
Siobhan into new gales of laughter. Duncan and Connor step off
the elevator.)
Connor: Something funny?
Methos: No.
Duncan: (Looking at Siobhan, who has slid onto the couch.) Could have fooled me.
Siobhan: He's- (gasping for breath) 5000. (Loses control again.) And
I'm going to- (gasps)
make him old!
(Duncan and Connor look at each other. Siobhan pulls herself off the couch. She has managed to reduce the laughter to giggles. She bounces over to Methos and kisses him on the cheek.)
Siobhan: (Looking sideways at Connor.) Remember, it could be worse.
Methos: You are cruel.
(She laughs and goes to Connor, kissing him on the cheek. Then she moves to Duncan. She grabs him and kisses him quickly on the lips. She whirls away and heads out of the living room.)
Siobhan: (Looks back over her shoulder.) Hmm, that didn't kill him.
Have to try harder next
time.
(She sails out of the room leaving behind an amused Connor and Duncan
and an annoyed Methos.)

(A large arena. Two men are having a sword fight. Several people range around the arena watching them. The older of the two is a huge bull of a man. He is beating the younger, slimmer man badly. His sword sinks into the younger man's chest. He pulls it out with a grunt of satisfaction.)
Man: (Looking around the arena.) Next!
(A pretty blonde woman about Siobhan's size steps forward. She is wearing a gold crucifix on a chain.)
Woman: Taran, that's the thirteenth one you've killed today. Maybe you should take a break.
Taran: (pouts) But it's fun, Ariel.
Ariel: (smiles) I know but still.
Taran: (still pouting) Okay.
(The young Immortal on the ground jerks back to life. Taran kicks him, sending him flying. Duval enters the room. Ariel smiles and goes to him.)
Ariel: Jacques. I missed you.
(He pulls her close and smiles down at her.)
Duval: How much?
Ariel: (Seductively) I could show you.
(Duval looks up as a tall, black Immortal walks into the arena.)
Duval: Maybe later. (Still holding Ariel, greets other Immortal.) Kage.
Kage: How did it go?
Duval: Perfect. She's terrified of me. I found her at Macleod's
just like you thought. I didn't
see her father but she was
with Duncan, not Connor.
Kage: Her father will be there somewhere.
Duval: Are you sure he's Methos?
Kage: Yes. Kronos described him to me well. (Kage's eyes
narrow in anger.) I know that
Methos was behind Macleod's
defeat of Kronos and his brothers. I am going to destroy
them both. First I
will make Methos suffer by destroying what he values most. His
daughter. (Sighs) How different
things would have been if Kronos had known of her
existence.
Duval: Maybe Kronos did know about her. Maybe he just didn't have
the guts to use her against
Methos.
(Kage slams Duval against the wall holding him off the ground by his throat.)
Kage: Kronos did not have a weak bone in his body. If he had known
about the bitch he would
have used her to keep Methos
in line. I will not tolerate that kind of slander against my
teacher. Is that understood?
(Duval gasps and chokes. Kage apparently satisfied releases him. Duval slides to the floor. Ariel rushes to his side. Kage turns to see everyone in the arena staring at him.)
Kage: (Snarling) What are you staring at? Get back to work! We will soon have a war to fight!
(Everyone but Taran hurries to comply. Kage storms out.
Taran watches him go.)
-VIII-
(Late night in an almost deserted parking lot. The only car there is Siobhan's convertible. The four Immortals are walking across the parking lot laughing and talking. Duncan's cell phone rings and he answers it.)
Duncan: Joe? Yeah, what did you find out?
(Duncan pauses, listening. A strong buzz passes over them and they look around warily. Twelve of the young Immortals seen at the arena approach them. The older Immortals reach for their swords.)
Duncan: Well, we don't have to worry about finding them. I think
they just found us. Talk to
you later.
(Duncan turns off the phone and puts it away.)
Methos: Well, well. Isn't it past your bedtime kiddies?
(They ignore Methos, drawing their swords. The young Immortal Taran killed is obviously the leader. He moves forward.)
YI: Today is the day you die.
Connor: (Protesting) But I can't die today! I have a date on Saturday! With Kelly!
Siobhan: Connor?
Connor: Yes?
Siobhan: I don't think they care about your sex life.
Connor: (Leers) They haven't seen Kelly.
Duncan: Apparently they don't care about the rules either.
Methos: (Sarcastic) No? Really?
(No more is said. The older Immortals engage the younger. Methos takes a cut to his left arm.)
Siobhan: Da?
Methos: Flesh wound!
(Duncan's sword flashes out, taking a head. All the other Immortals move away as the Quickening starts, continuing to fight. The Quickening ends. Siobhan turns back and throws a dagger at the young Immortal approaching Duncan from behind. It lands in his chest, killing him.)
Connor: No more heads! We can't afford to be down.
(The three Immortals move protectively around Duncan while he recovers.
Police sirens wail in the distance. The younger Immortals disperse.
Siobhan pulls her dagger out of the dead Immortal's chest. The four
of them head for the car. Siobhan's tires squeal as she pulls out
of the lot.)
